Alex is a Physiotherapist who graduated from McMaster University with her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy Degree. She prides herself on having an evidence based, client-centered practice and aims to learn and understand each individual’s story.  This approach offers Alex the opportunity to provide optimal, individualized treatment for all. She believes in a holistic treatment approach and aims to empower patients through education, inclusive of pain science education, individual exercise prescriptions, manual therapy, and techniques to address the nervous system as well as self-management skills. Alex has taken postgraduate courses specializing in Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation and credits her mentor Carolyn Vandyken for her education and experience in the field. Alex is excited about giving comfort and confidence back to her patients by restoring their basic human necessities such as urinary and fecal continence and pain free intercourse. 

 

Alex is passionate about being an evidence based professional and has an active role in research within the Pelvic Health realm as well as Pelvic Health advocacy. Outside of Physiotherapy, Alex is passionate about living an active, healthy lifestyle. She participates in many sports such as soccer, enjoys yoga, surfing and exploring the beautiful outdoors of Vancouver Island. Alex grew up in Pitt Meadows and moved to Nanaimo in 2010 to complete her Bachelors degree at Vancouver Island University in Sport, Health and Physical Education. She fell in love with the island and is proud to call Nanaimo home now!
