Dr. Clare Craig

Naturopathic Physician | ND, BA (Hons), CD(DONA)

Dr. Clare Craig is a registered, licensed Naturopathic Physician. She trained at the accredited Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, graduating in 2006. Her clinical year included valuable experience working with low-income individuals and families, First Nations communities, and HIV/AIDS patients, in addition to a rotation at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic, the largest in North America. Before training as a Naturopathic Doctor, Clare earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Guelph, then worked with community organizations, women’s groups and youth programs. She traveled and worked in Africa and Central America, practicing French and Spanish. Her travels brought unique learning experiences, which continue to inform her approach to living as balanced and fulfilled a life as possible.

Clare has a strong desire to help all patients connect to the healing properties of nature and of their own bodies, to assist them in finding balance and achieving health and well-being. She enjoys a broad primary care practice emphasizing family medicine including women’s health, pediatric care, fertility promotion and peri-natal care, stress syndromes (such as fatigue and insomnia), immune dysfunction, digestive issues, athletic performance, injury recovery and pain complexes. Clare is an eclectic practitioner and accesses a wide range of treatment modalities to best suit the individual needs of her patients.

Clare is a Certified Doula, and a member of the Association of Perinatal Naturopathic Doctors, and the Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians. She has additional training in Bowen Therapy, Homeopathy, Medical Herbalism, and Mind-Body Medicine. She is board certified in BC to perform Acupuncture, and is licensed to prescribe.

Clare does her best to be the change she wishes to see in the world, as Ghandi said. When not at the office, she can be found hiking, running, biking, swimming, gardening, paddling, and exploring our beautiful island any way she can.  Clare is happy to work at Island Optimal, where practitioners embody and support the ideals of healthy living and patient-centered care.

Clare works at our Rutherford location.
