Originally a yogi from Ottawa, Katie moved to Nanaimo in 2012 and was immediately accepted into the Island Optimal & Moksha Yoga family. Katie teaches Moksha Hot Yoga and can be found behind the front desk working reception.
Here's a little something Katie had to say about the Performance Centre:
"I had been practicing yoga for 7 years and was curious as to what Island Optimal Performance Centre was all about. I admit I was a little afraid to give it a try... ok maybe a lot afraid:) I felt self-conscious of my lack of knowledge with lifting weights... I mean what the heck was a deadlift anyway? But I'm so happy I took that first scary step! With the help of all of the trainers at the gym I was able to push my limits, improve my cardio and learn the proper techniques for lifting weight. Today I feel stronger in my body and mind then ever before! It's amazing to be part of a community that fosters personal growth and helps you meet your fitness and health goals. The cross-training/therapies that Island Optimal offers helps me to stay fit and healthy so I can sustain the yoga practice I love."
