Kayla was born and raised in Nanaimo and played rugby and lacrosse throughout her high
school career. She still is involved in rugby and competes in Powerlifting and Olympic
Weightlifting. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from University of
Victoria and following her degree spent a few years working as Kinesiologist in Victoria and
Cowichan Valley focussing mostly on rehabilitation and recovery from sports injuries.
Kayla moved down to New Zealand for a few years where she worked with the Wellington City
Council to design and implement an aquatic physical therapy program that reached out to
primarily the elderly population who were aiming to improve their strength and balance and help
improve activities of daily living. Kayla has worked as an athletic trainer for UVIC Vikes’ rugby, HOBM Rugby and Nanaimo Hornets Rugby Club. She still helps out where she can, but currently participates as a player for
the Senior Women’s First Division team for Nanaimo.
She is looking forward to working with a variety of individuals to help them meet their goals -
whether they be in rehabilitation, strength training or overall wellbeing.
